Nescafe frappé

The inevitable companion on the Greek beaches

The Nescafe Frappè is nothing but nesquik coffee powder mixed with cold water and ice.
We have no idea how this tradition was born in Greece, but not a bar, lido or kiosk has it on the menu.

Excellent to drink on the beach, in fact he becomes our best friend when we decide not to drink alcohol.

When did it become the national drink?

In 1957, in Thessaloniki, during an international fair, Dimitrios Vakondios, commercial representative of Nescafé, decides to prepare himself a coffee. However, it seems that there is no hot water and so - legend has it - he takes a shaker used for chocolate drinks, instead of the Nesquick he puts the Nescafé and a little sugar and et voilà, the milkshake destined to become the national drink is born Greek.
